North Georgia Wonders Field Trip

Early on Saturday morning, October 8th, the mentor program loaded a school bus and headed to the mountains for the day.

The first stop of the day was Amicalola Falls State park where students went on a mile hike and witnessed the breathtaking view of the falls. While at the park students also  enjoyed an amazing lunch at The Maple Restaurant, located at the top of the falls overlooking the mountains.

After taking in the views of Amicalola Falls and getting our bellies full we then traveled to Tallulah Gorge State Park where we were able to take in some more beautiful scenery. All students enjoyed a hike to the gorge and our thrill seekers took on an 80 foot suspension bridge over the Gorge.

Before making it back to Monticello we made a short stop in Athens, where we enjoyed dinner at Chick-fil-A.

Middle Georgia Wonders Field Trip

Early on Saturday morning, January 28th 2017, the mentor program loaded a school bus and headed to the historic Stone Mountain Park.

During our visit to Stone Mountain Park a group of 45 mentors and mentees got to experience all that Stone Mountain had to offer. Our mentors and mentees toured the historic museum where they discovered  artifacts and stories that span 12,000 years, from ancient civilizations that lived on the mountain to the present-day park. For fun we watched a glass blowing session, Imax movie, played a round of miniature golf, and cooled off in the snow at "Snow Mountain".

Before heading back to Monticello we all enjoyed a lunch at the park cafeteria.
